Title
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS,
FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER
IN THE AMOUNT OF $69,958.42 TO BOBCAT OF METRO DADE FOR THE
PURCHASE OF AN ALL WHEEL STEER LOADER; PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
Staff Summarv
Backqround
The City Council approved a line of credit to purchase new and replacement vehicles
and heavy equipment for the City departments. One of the equipment listed included a
Parks Department requirement for a piece of equipment which is capable of mowing,
trenching for irrigation, spreading fertilizer etc. that will not damage the turf while in
operation. An all wheel steer is capable of all of the functions and allows the equipment
to maneuver on the field without damaging the turF.
Analvsis:
Staff prepared the specifications to purchase equipment capable of the required needs
and functions and advertised on November 9, 2007. A broadcast notice was sent to 126
vendors. Eleven vendors requested bid packages. The bids were opened on
November 29, 2007. Two bids were received and publicity read. A copy of the bid
document and submittals are available at the assistant to the mayor and council's office
for review. The tabulation sheet is attached as Exhibit "A".
K-10) CONSENT AGENDA
Issue Purchase Order for purchase of an
All Wheel Steer Loader
The apparent low bid was evaluated for compliance with the specifications, their
equipment is not an "all wheel" and therefore non-responsive. The second bid was also
evaluated for compliance with the specifications and the ability of the equipment to
perform the required work without damaging the fields. The equipment met all
requirements.
Recommendation:
That the City Council approve the attached resolution authorizing the City Manager to
issue a purchase order to Bobcat of Metro Dade, located in Hialeah Gardens, Florida,
in an amount of $69,958.42 which includes the extended warranty.

Why are Bobcat All Wheel Steer Loaders Unique?
Two Different Steering Modes To
Match Your Job !
Go from four-wheel "all wheel" steer to skid-steer mode with the flip of a
switch!
All-Wheel Steer Mode
The new Bobcat all-wheel steer loader is a revolutionary compact loader
with four steerable axles. That means less tire wear, less ground
disturbance and less operator fatigue.
Skid-Steer Mode
Flip a switch, and the loader gives you all the advantages of a compact skid-steer loader. It can maneuver in tight
spaces, turn within its own length and deliver high performance day in and day out.
Steering Mode Selector Switch
Conveniently located within easy reach from the operator seat, the
steering mode selector switch is found on the dash panel inside the cab.
The steering mode selector switch makes switching steering modes quick
and easy. Depending on job requirements, the operator can change
steering modes from all-wheel steer to skid-steer simply by bringing the
loader to a stop, pressing the steering mode selector switch, and then the
"Press to Operate Loader" button. Now he's ready to operate in skid-steer
mode. Changing back to the all-wheel steer mode can be done in the
same way.
Tire & Turf Friendly
All-wheel steer mode is gentle on grass and other surfaces, meaning little or no rework after the main job is done.
