Staff Summarv On October 10, 2007, City Council authorized the City Manager to negotiate and execute an agreement with Miami Skyline Construction Corporation for the renovation of the Police Building to include interview rooms, communications rooms, sallie port, holding area, locker and shower areas, lobby, etc. The renovation is under construction. In the process of the contractor removing walls, ceilings and doors; electrical panels and wiring; plumbing fixtures and pipes; etc. unknown conditions are being detected which require additional work. Some of these conditions are removing non-structural ceilings; replacing air conditioning units not meeting code; revise wiring in communications area for command consoles; replacing exiting electric to meet current code requirements, etc. The contractor has provided the City with change orders for the additional work. K-3) CONSENT AGENDA Change Order far Police Building Renovations Analvsis: City's Project Manager has reviewed the requested change orders for compliance with the contract and the required work. Change order requests to date total $83,928.45. In addition to the current and expected change orders above, staff estimates an additional amount of $98,000.00 is needed for additional electrical work which is required for the installation of the security system, fire alarm system and fire panel etc. These items were not in the original bid. The City's Purchasing Ordinance allows the City Manager to approve any change order(s) up to a maximum of ten percent (10%) over the award of the City Council. ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2. AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby authorizes the City Manger to issue a change order to that certain contract with Miami Skyline Construction Corporation in an amount not to exceed $116,675.00. Section 3. EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage.
