Staff Summarv The Miami Gardens Police Department will begin operation on December 16, 2007. As the Department has developed, various needs that had nat been previously identified have been discovered. One of the priority needs is for additional unmarked vehicles to support administrative and investigative functions. These functions include support personnel needing to attend meetings at other law enforcement locations, additional personnel assigned to investigations and the need to have a small pool of vehicles available when assigned vehicles need routine servicing. Analysis: Staff has researched options for acquiring these vehicles and has obtained purchase information for four additional vehicles via the Florida Sheriff's Association Bid. These four vehicles, two Chrysler 300 and two Chrysler Magnum will be purchased to supplement the existing fleet and enhance the operation of the Department. The Florida Sheriffs Association competitively bid for various vehicles and award to the lowest, responsive responsible vendors in each region of the State Beck Auto Sales., K-9) CONSENT AGENDA Issue Purchase Order for purchase of four unmarked police vehicles located in Palatka, Florida, was awarded the bid #07-15-0827 in October 2007, for the full size 4-door administrative Chrysler vehicles in the southern region. Recommendation: That the City Council approve the attached resolution authorizing the City Manager to issue a purchase order in accordance with the Florida Sheriffs Association Bid in an amount not to exceed $79020.00 to Beck Auto Sales for the purchase of four unmarked vehicles. RESOLUTION No. 2007- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER TO BECK AUTO SALES IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $79,020.00 FOR THE PURCHASE OF FOUR UNMARKED POLICE VEHICLES BY RELYING UPON THAT CERTAIN FLORIDA SHERRIFF'S BID NO.-7-15-0827; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. 1 WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens Police Department will commence 2 operation on December 16, 2007, and 3 WHEREAS, it is necessary for the City to purchase unmarked vehicles to assist 4 the Police Department with its administrative and investigative functions, and 5 WHEREAS, City staff has reviewed Florida Sheriffs Association Bid No. 07-15- 6 0827, which was competitively bid, and 7 WHEREAS, City staff is recommending that the City Council rely upon the 8 Florida Sheriffs bid and authorize the City Manager to purchase four full-size Chrysler 9 unmarked vehicles from Beck Auto Sales for this purpose, 10 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY 11 OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: 12 Section 1. ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas 13 paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby 14 made a specific part of this Resolution. 15 Section 2. AWARD OF BID: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens 16 hereby awards a bid to Beck Auto Sales in the amount of $79,020.00 for the purchase 17 of four full-size Chrysler unmarked vehicles, by relying upon that certain Florida 18 Sherriff's bid No 07-15-0827. 19 Section 3. AUTHORIZATION: The City Manager is hereby authorized to issue 20 a purchase order in the amount of $79,020.00 to Beck Auto Sales. 21 Section 4. EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately 22 23 24 25 26 27 28 29 30 31 32 33 34 35 36 37 38 39 40 41 42 43 44 45 46 47 48 49 50 51 52 53 54 55 upon its final passage.
