It is important for the City to be aware of the ongoing efforts to improve the quality of the
housing stock within the City by MDHA and our continued efforts to make available affordable
housing and homeownership opportunities. We invite the partnership of the City in this effort
and take this opportunity to present some of the highlights of the work that we have done to
date and planned improvements.

homeowners associations of Miramar Gardens and Vista Verde. These efforts were initiated
and lead by the former Dade County Commissioner Betty T. Ferguson and have been
continued by Commissioner Barbra Jordan with the involvement of the Universal Truth Center
as a community partner and has provided the catalyst needed to attract rehabilitation loans
made available to residents to repair their homes to a maximum amount of $30,000 and a set
aside of up to $500,000 for these communities.

We are currently making additional improvements to address Safety & Security at all of our
developments and have presented improvements totaling $1,767,750.00 and are in progress
with more than $321,250.00 security improvements which involves access controls and digital
security cameras featuring remote access that can be used by your newly formed police
department. Discussions on the development of a computer based monitoring platform with
remote access as a surveillance tool has already been initiated with Chief Mathew Boyd and
witl further the enhance the service level and efficiency of the Department as they lay the
foundation for securing the city for its residents and businesses.
Our request for waiver of the fines proposed is seen as the commitment to a continued
partnership based on trust and commitment to providing affordable housing solutions in the
City of Miami Gardens and Miami Dade County. We look forward to your continued support
and anticipate the conclusion of this action.
I am available to address and further clarify any additional information relating to this request
and can be contacted at (305) 644-5123 or @ pbrown an.miamidade.qov .
