Communi~yActionAgency I am requesting a waiver of the fines imposed against the property located at 4513 NW 1g4th Commu~ity & Economic Developmenl Street, in an effort to maintain the affordability of the home which is a part of MDHA's Community Relations homeownership effort within the City of Miami Gardens. We invite the partnership of the City in this effort and take this opportunity to present some of the highlights of the work that we have done to date and planned improvements. The list represents improvements within the period 2002 to date. The property captioned in the violation is one of the units in the final phase of a successful rehabilitation project (24 units) in the City of Miami Gardens. The completion of major repairs and home ownership opportunities has been the focus to revitalize the community and homeowners associations of Miramar Gardens and Vista Verde. These efforts were initiated and lead by the former Dade County Commissioner Betty T. Ferguson and have been continued by Commissioner Barbra Jordan with the involvement of the Universal Truth Center as a community partner and has provided the catalyst needed to attract rehabilitation loans made available to residents to repair their homes to a maximum amount of $30,000 and a set aside of up to $500,000 for these communities. L-1) REPORTS CITY ATTORNEY'S REPORT Ms. Carmen Quinn Page 2 We are currently making additional improvements to address Safety & Security at all of our developments and have presented improvements totaling $1,767,750.00 and are in progress with more than $321,250.00 security improvements which involves access controls and digital security cameras featuring remote access that can be used by your newly formed police department. Discussions on the development of a computer based monitoring platform with remote access as a surveillance tool has already been initiated with Chief Mathew Boyd and witl further the enhance the service level and efficiency of the Department as they lay the foundation for securing the city for its residents and businesses. Our request for waiver of the fines proposed is seen as the commitment to a continued partnership based on trust and commitment to providing affordable housing solutions in the City of Miami Gardens and Miami Dade County.
