Staff Summarv In December of 2006 the City Council awarded the purchase of in car laptop computers to support the MGPD patrol units. In addition to the laptops, personal computers will also be needed for the support staff and for personnel not assigned to patrol. The IT department requires ample time to load all the required software and staff needs to be fully trained on the OSSI software prior to the transition on December 1, 2007. In order to facilitate this timeframe staff is requesting the purchase of seventy four (74) personal computers for police department personnel. The State of Florida competitively bid for information technology hardware and awarded to several companies. Dell is one of the companies awarded. Historically, the City has always purchased its personal computers from Dell in accordance with the State of Florida bid 250-000-03-1. (See attached quotation) The Seventy-four PCs required for the MGPD, will cost $990.74 each for a total purchase of $73,314.76. Funding for this expenditure is appropriated in the Police Department, General Fund. J-3) CONSENT AGENDA RESOLUTION DELL COMPUTERS Recommendation That the City Council approve the attached resolution authorizing the City Manager to issue a purchase order to Dell Computers for the purchase of 74 personal computers. RESOLUTION No. 2007- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER IN THE AMOUNT OF $73,314.76 TO DELL COMPUTERS FOR THE PURCHASE OF 74 PERSONAL COMPUTERS BY RELYING UPON THAT CERTAIN STATE OF FLORIDA BID #250- 000-03-1; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. 1 WHEREAS, it is necessary for the City to purchase laptops and personal 2 computers for Police Department use, and 3 WHEREAS, City staff is requesting that the City Council authorize the purchase 4 of 74 personal computers from Dell Computers for this purpose, and 5 WHEREAS, the State of Florida competitively bid for computer hardware and 6 awarded the bid to several companies, and 7 WHEREAS, Dell Computers was one of the companies selected by the State, 8 and 9 WHEREAS, City staff is recommending that the City Council rely upon State of 10 Florida bid #250-000-03-1 for the purchase of computers for the Police Department, and 11 WHEREAS, funding for this expenditure is available in the Police Department 12 and General Fund, 13 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY 14 OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AS FOLLOWS: 15 Section 1. ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas 16 paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby 17 made a specific part of this Resolution. 18 Section 2. AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens 19 hereby authorizes the City Manager to issue a purchase order in the amount of 20 $73,314.76 to Dell Computers for the purchase of 74 personal computers by relying 21 upon that certain State of Florida Bid #250-000-03-1. 22 Section 3.
