Staff Summarv The city of Miami Gardens and the city of Opa-Locka have been working cooperatively to ensure that 27 avenue, a major corridor in both cities, is beautifully landscape for our residents and commuters. The City of Miami Gardens' portion of the project is completed and the contractor is currently working to finish work in the Opa-Locka section of the road. Currently all the agreed funding from Miami-Dade County and the Florida Department of Transportation has been received by the Miami Gardens for both sections of the project. This inter-local agreement for the additional $115,000 to be paid by the city of Opa-Locka, will allow our landscape contractor to complete the brick paver installation between NW 151- NW 127 in the city of Opa-Locka. RECOMMENDATION: That City Council approves the agreement. J-2) CONSENT AGENDA INSTALLATION OF BRICK PAVERS (27TH AVENUE & NW 135TH STREET) RESOLUTION No. 2007- A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AND ATTEST, RESPECTIVELY, THAT CERTAIN AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS AND THE CITY OF OPA LOCKA FOR THE INSTALLATION OF BRICK PAVERS ALONG NORTHWEST 27T" AVENUE FROM NORTHWEST 135T" STREET TO NORTHWEST 215T" STREET, A COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT A; PROVIDING FOR INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY CLERK; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. 1 WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens and the City of Opa Locka have been 2 working together on a beautification initiative relating to 27t" Avenue, and 3 WHEREAS, the portion of the work that is located within the City of Miami 4 Gardens' City limits has been completed; however, the City of Opa Locka has not been 5 able to complete the portion of the roadway that is within its City limits, and 6 WHEREAS, Opa Locka has requested the City of Miami Gardens agree to 7 complete a portion of the project located within the City of Opa Locka City limits for the 8 sum of $115,000.00, and 9 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Miami Gardens is amenable to 10 completing the section of the beautification project located within the City of Opa Locka 11 on Northwest 27th Avenue from Northwest 127th Street to Northwest 151St Street, 12 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY 13 OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, as follows: 14 Section 1. ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas 15 paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby 16 made a specific part of this Resolution. 17 Section 2. AUTHORITY: The City Manager and City Clerk are hereby 18 authorized and directed to execute and attest, respectively, that certain Agreement 19 befinreen the City of Miami Gardens and the City of Opa Locka for the installation of 20 brick pavers along Northwest 27t" Avenue from Northwest 135th Street to Northwest 21 215th Street, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit A. 22 Section 3. INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY CLERK: The City Clerk is hereby 23 authorized to obtain three (3) fully executed copies of the subject Agreement, with one 24 to be maintained by the City; with one to be delivered to the City of Opa Locka, and with 25 one to be directed to the Office of City Attorney. 26 Section 4. NOW, THEREFORE, in consideration of the promises and covenants contained herein, the parties agree as follows: 1. COL shall provide the sum of one hundred fifteen thousand dollars ($115,000.00) to City of Miami Gardens, required for brick pavers to complete the N.W. 27tn Avenue Beautification Project upon approval by the CMG City Council. 2. CMG warrants that the installation of the brick pavers shall comply with Chapter 14 - 40, Part 1, Florida Administrative Code, and the Florida Department of Transportation "Design Standards" and "Plans Preparation Manual". 3. COL hereby incorporates by reference all applicable provisions of the Agreement between City of Miami Gardens and Miami-Dade County relating to the installation of brick pavers, from N.W. 127`h Street to N.W. 1515` Street.
