A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, RATIFYING THE CITY
MANAGER'S AUTHORIZATION OF A CHANGE ORDER TO
HORIZON ELECTRONICS FOR THE REPAIR TO THE FIRE
ALARM SYSTEM AT BETTY T. FERGUSON RECREATION
CENTER IN THE ADDITIONAL AMOUNT OF SEVEN
THOUSAND FOUR HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-DOLLARS
($7,470.00); PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, periodic maintenance of and routine repairs are made to the Fire
Alarm System at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreation Center, and
WHEREAS, the system is inspected annually by the Miami Dade County Fire
Department (MDCFD), and
WHEREAS, recent MDCFD inspections revealed some additional items that
required remediation, and
WHEREAS, Purchase Order 19-00629 was issued in the amount of $26,960.00
to Horizon Electronics to perform repairs to the fire alarm system at Betty T. Ferguson
Recreation Center, and
WHEREAS, the subsequent periodic inspections by MDCFD has resulted in their
requirements that the building meet new Codes versus those in effect at the time of
original construction as well as identifying additional deficiencies not known at the time
of bid, and
WHEREAS, this Change Order in the amount of $7,470.00 represents the
additional funds needed for compliance with MDCFD requirements, and
WHEREAS, since the Change Order is 27.7% of the original Purchase Order,
Code requires approval by City Council, and
WHEREAS, given the current declared State of Emergency by the City, the
Change Order was approved administratively and requires ratification by City Council,
and
WHEREAS, City Staff recommends that the City Council ratify the City
Manager's authorization to a change order to Horizon Electronics,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby ratifies the City Manager's authorization of a Change Order to Horizon
Electronics for the repair to the Fire Alarm System at Betty T. Ferguson Recreation
Center in the additional amount of Seven Thousand Four Hundred and Seventy-Dollars
($7,470.00).
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS SPECIAL VIRTUAL MEETING HELD ON JUNE 3, 2020.
