A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER AND THE CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE AND ATTEST
RESPECTIVELY, THAT CERTAIN AGREEMENT WITH THE
OFFICE OF THE ATTORNEY GENERAL FOR THE
ACCEPTANCE OF THE VICTIMS OF CRIME ACT GRANT IN
THE AMOUNT OF ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND TWO
HUNDRED AND TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS ($100,202.00) TO
PROVIDE ASSISTANCE TO VICTIMS OF CRIME IN THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, A COPY OF WHICH IS ATTACHED
HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A", AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE VICTIMS OF CRIME ACT
(VOCA) GRANT AGREEMENT, AND ANY OTHER ADDENDA,
PROVIDING FOR INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY CLERK;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the Office of the Attorney General has awarded the City of Miami
Gardens Police Department the Victims of Crime Act Grant (VOCA), to provide
assistance to victims of crime in the City of Miami Gardens for services such as
counseling, assistance with prosecution, criminal justice support, advocacy, crisis
hotline counseling and/or victim compensation, and, and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens Police Department will receive One
Hundred Thousand One Hundred and Two Thousand Dollars ($100,202.00) from this
Grant, and
WHEREAS, the funds would provide efficient and needed services that are now
being provided by the State Attorney's Office or other municipalities, and
WHEREAS, staff recommends that the City Council for the City of Miami
Gardens authorize the City Manager to execute the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) Grant
Agreement, and any other addenda as it relates to VOCA Grant received from the
Office of the Attorney General,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby[LW1] authorizes the City Manager to execute the Victims of Crime Act (VOCA)
Grant Agreement, and any other addenda as it relates to VOCA awarded grant funds
received from the Office of the Attorney General.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS VIRTUAL SPECIAL MEETING HELD ON OCTOBER 28, 2020.
