A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING THE SUM OF
SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS ($7000.00) FROM
COUNCILWOMAN WILSON'S PUBLIC AFFAIRS NUNC PRO
TUNC, FOR THE PURCHASE OF BACK PACKS FOR THE
DISTRICT 4 EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVES; PROVIDING FOR
THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, a good education is one of the best opportunities a student has to
reach their highest potential, and
WHEREAS, school budgets are increasingly under strain in communities where
the student need is greater and when neither families nor schools can contribute, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Katrina Wilson believes putting basic school supplies
in the hands of children and their teachers empowering students to grow, learn, and
continue to strive, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Wilson is requesting to allocate Seven Thousand
Dollars ($7,000) from the Public Affairs Account for Seat 4 Nunc Pro Tunc for the
District 4 Educational Initiatives Bookbag giveaway held on August 20, 2020, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Wilson recommends that the City Council approves
this resolution,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the allocation of Seven Thousand Dollars ($7,0000.00) from
Councilwoman Wilson's Public Affairs Account for Seat 4 Educational Initiatives
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS SPECIAL MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 8, 2020.
