A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE MIAMI
GARDENS SMALL BUSINESS INITIATIVE PROGRAM
("MGSBIP"), TO AID SMALL BUSINESSES; AUTHORIZING THE
CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY AND ALL DOCUMENTS
REQUIRED BY THIS GRANT PROCESS; PROVIDING FOR
THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR
AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens City Council approved the Business
Assistance Program to provide support to businesses within the community who would
have been significantly impacted in the last year, and
WHEREAS, in partnership with County Commission Vice-Chair Oliver Gilbert,
Councilwoman Linda Julien introduced The Miami Gardens Small Business Initiative
Program ("MGSBIP"), which is designed to aid small businesses via a working capital
grant in support of their general operations, and
WHEREAS, funds available will be provided to small businesses to assist with
ensuring they are able to operate and grow their business in the City of Miami Gardens,
and
WHEREAS, this program provides a one-time grant to eligible Miami Gardens
small businesses, and
WHEREAS, to be considered for funding, applicants must comply with the online
application procedure outlined, and
WHEREAS, a one-time grant award will be accessible to business owners in
amounts up to $10,000, and
WHEREAS, the grant award may be used to defray the costs of eligible
expenses listed as Eligible Uses under Eligibility Criteria, and
WHEREAS, the City will assist up to a maximum of $10,000 depending on size of
the establishment,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby approves The Miami Gardens Small Business Initiative Program ("MGSBIP"), to
aid small businesses through a working capital grant in support of its general operations
with a one-time grant award accessible to business owners in an amount up to Ten
Thousand Dollars ($10,000); and authorizes the City Manager to execute any and all
documents required by this grant process.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON FEBRUARY 24, 2021.
