A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT
WITH SYNALOVSKI ROMANIK SAYE FOR ARCHITECTURAL
AND ENGINEERING SERVICES ASSOCIATED WITH DR.
LESTER B. BROWN PARK; AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER TO IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE HUNDRED THIRTY EIGHT
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($188,000.00) FOR DESIGN,
CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS, AND CONSTRUCTION
ADMINISTRATION SERVICES; PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, in April 2014, the City of Miami Gardens residents approved a
General Obligation Bond (GOB) in the amount of sixty million dollars ($60,000,000) for
the construction of and improvements to the City's parks and related facilities, and
WHEREAS, the City Council also adopted a Bond Implementation Plan that
listed improvements to be incorporated into each park project, which included the
renovation of Dr. Lester B. Brown Park, and
WHEREAS, the renovation of this park is happening with a phased approach;
Phase 1 included the playground (August 2019) and the artificial turf field (August
2020), funded with Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds; Phase 2 will
include new building construction, perimeter fence, expansion and resurfacing of
existing parking, and a lit walking trail, and
WHEREAS, staff issued Request for Qualifications (RFQ) #18-19-008, inviting
qualified firms to submit proposals to provide continuing architectural and engineering
services on a rotating basis and has obtained a proposal from Synalovski Romanik
Saye, one of the selected firms, for architectural and engineering services for Phase 2
of Dr. Lester B. Brown Park, and
WHEREAS, the scope of work and fees total $188,000.00 for schematic design,
design development, construction documents, bidding, and construction administration,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1 : ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes an Agreement with Synalovski Romanik Saye for architectural and
engineering services associated with Dr. Lester B. Brown Park. The City Council further
authorizes the City Manager to issue a purchase order to in an amount not to exceed
One Hundred Thirty Eight Thousand Dollars ($188,000.00) for design, construction
documents, and construction administration services.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
