HomeMy WebLinkAbout2021-021-3576 Agreement with Worldsafe 1st RESOLUTION NO. 2021-021-3576 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND THE CITY ATTORNEY TO EXECUTE A LICENSE AGREEMENT WITH WORLDSAFE 1ST TO UTILIZE CITY-OWNED PROPERTY IN ORDER TO ADMINISTER COVID-19 VACCINATIONS TO MIAMI GARDENS RESIDENTS; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, like all cities across the globe, the City of Miami Gardens has been tested to the extreme with the Coronavirus Pandemic, and WHEREAS, from the onset of the Pandemic, we have dealt with the massive challenge of COVID-19 and have taken measures to control the spread of the virus in spite of facing massive implications due to our economic structure; our preparedness for such a crisis; and the extent to which our population's health and livelihoods are vulnerable, and WHEREAS, our management approach has been based on grounding every major City decision on functionality, safety and openness, and WHEREAS, this approach has resulted in a high level of trust between our City and our citizens, businesses and other key stakeholder groups, which in turn have facilitated our leadership's ability to operate more effectively in a time of crisis, and WHEREAS, staff is seeking to collaborate with WorldSafelst to establish a Citywide Vaccination Project within the City to help address the current racial and ethnic disparities that exist in administering the vaccine within communities of color, and WHEREAS, the Vaccination Project will be implemented Citywide among the 113,514 people who live in the City, focusing most intensively on Black and Hispanic residents, and in three zip codes with the highest number of seniors, and WHEREAS, the latest census data shows 34,881 seniors citizens living within the six zip codes that are wholly or partly located within the CMG, and WHEREAS, that makes seniors 14.5% of the area population, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1 : ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens authorize the City Manager and the City Attorney to execute the attached license agreement, in substantial form, with WorldSafe 1st, attached hereto as Exhibit A, to utilize City-Owned property in order to administer COVID-19 Vaccinations to Miami Gardens Residents. Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage.
