R170101 FOR THE PURCHASE OF SCOREBOARDS AND ELECTRONIC SIGNS, INSTALLATION AND RELATED PRODUCTS AND SERVICES; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ISSUE A PURCHASE ORDER TO DAKTRONICS, INC., IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE HUNDRED FORTY SIX THOUSAND SEVEN HUNDRED THIRTY THREE DOLLARS ($146,733.00), FOR THE PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF A VIDEO SCOREBOARD AT THE BETTY T. FERGUSON COMPLEX; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Betty T. Ferguson Complex is in need of an upgrade to a video scoreboard in order to accommodate collegiate track and field activities, and WHEREAS, in April 2014, the City of Miami Gardens residents approved a General Obligation Bond (GOB) in the amount of Sixty Million Dollars ($60,000,000) for the construction of and improvements to the City’s parks and related facilities, and WHEREAS, subsequently, City Council authorized the issuance of General Obligation Bonds to pay the costs of various improvements to the parks, and WHEREAS, City Council also adopted a Bond Implementation Plan that listed improvements to be incorporated into each park project, and WHEREAS, included in the adopted Bond Implementation Plan is to upgrade the existing football field area, which includes the replacement of the scoreboard at the Betty T. Ferguson Complex, and WHEREAS, also included in the Bond Implementation Plan is the installation of a scoreboard at the Lester Brown Park, and WHEREAS, on January 13, 2017 advertised the National IPA (formerly TCPN – The Cooperative Purchasing Network) Contract No. R170101 - Scoreboards and Electronic Signs, Installation and Related Products and Services, and WHEREAS, on May 2, 2017 the bid was awarded to multiple vendors for a three year period from May 1, 2017 through April 30, 2020. The contract was renewed with renewal 1 due to expire on April 30, 2021 and renewal #2 and the final year to expire April 30, 2022, and DocuSign Envelope ID: 9ED6C826-0B58-4392-8442-0F14B53CEB4A Page 2 of 3 Resolution No. 2021-033-3588 WHEREAS, the Capital Improvement Project Department seeks authorization to piggyback the purchase of the new video scoreboard utilizing the National IPA (formerly TCPN – The Cooperative Purchasing Network) Contract No. R170101 - Scoreboards and Electronic Signs, Installation and Related Products and Services, and WHEREAS, a new video scoreboard will be purchased and installed at the Betty T. Ferguson Complex and the existing scoreboard at the Betty T. Ferguson Complex will be relocated to Lester Brown Park, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby authorizes the City to piggyback the National IPA (formerly TCPN – The Cooperative Purchasing Network) Contract No. R70101 for the purchase of scoreboards and electronic signs, installation and related products and services and authorizes the City Manager to issue a purchase order to Daktronics, INC., in an amount not to exceed One Hundred Forty Six Thousand Seven Hundred Thirty Three Dollars ($146,733.00), for the purchase and installation of a video scoreboard at the Betty T. Ferguson Complex. Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage.
