HomeMy WebLinkAbout2021-041-3596_-_National_Day_of_Prayer_-_Adopted.docxRESOLUTION NO. 2021-041-3596 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, RECOGNIZING MAY 6, 2021 AS NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER IN THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation, and WHEREAS, the National Day of Prayer has great significance for us as a City as it enables us to recall and to teach the way in which our founding fathers sought spiritual wisdom of when faced with critical decisions, and WHEREAS, when women and men of all backgrounds and beliefs are free to practice their faiths without fear or coercion, it bolsters our religious communities and helps to lift up diverse and vibrant societies throughout our world, and WHEREAS, Councilwoman Shannan Ighodaro would like for the City Council to recognize May 6, 2021 as National Day of Prayer in the City of Miami Gardens, and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: RECOGNITION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby recognizes May 6, 2021 as National Day of Prayer in the City of Miami Gardens. Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage.
