FERGUSON RECREATIONAL COMPLEX AND THE CITY HALL COURTYARD FOR THE ORANGE BOWL BLOSSOM CLASSIC EVENTS TAKING PLACE THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 2, 2021 THROUGH SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER, 5, 2021; AUTHORIZING AN IN-KIND SUPPORT FOR THE EVENTS IN THE AMOUNT OF FIFTY-SEVEN THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED SEVENTY-NINE DOLLARS AND SEVENTY-ONE CENTS DOLLARS ($57,879.71) FROM THE GENERAL FUNDS ACCOUNTS FOR THE POLICE DEPARTMENT AND PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Orange Blossom Classic has been re-established to enhance Historically Black Colleges and Universities’ exposure in the enriched community of Miami Gardens, and WHEREAS, with a goal to raise scholarship funds for the participating schools for years to come, the reinvigorated Orange Blossom Classic will help to support the knowledge and experience offered by the discipline, commitment, and dedication it takes to be a Historically Black College and University student, and WHEREAS, the 2021 Orange Blossom Classic game will be held on Sunday, September 5, 2021, and WHEREAS, several community-based events will take place this Labor Day weekend, and WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens will provide resources, security, staffing, and/or facilities for the upcoming events, and WHEREAS, the City's in-kind support is estimated at $57,879.71 for five (5) Orange Blossom Classic events taking place September 2 - 5, 2021, and WHEREAS, all events will be planned with the necessary COVID-19 protocols in place and under CDC, state, and local guidelines at the time of the events, and WHEREAS, for the City’s in-kind support, the City will be named as a sponsor for Orange Blossom Classic events, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: DocuSign Envelope ID: 9ED6C826-0B58-4392-8442-0F14B53CEB4A Page 2 of 2 Resolution No. 2021-049-3604 Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby authorizes the use of The Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex and the City Hall Courtyard for The Orange Bowl Blossom Classic Events taking place Thursday, September 2, 2021 through Sunday, September, 5, 2021 and, Authorizes an in-kind support for the events in the amount of Fifty-Seven Thousand Eight Hundred Seventy- Nine Dollars and Seventy-One Cents ($57,879.71) from the General Fund Accounts for the Police Department and Parks and Recreation Department. Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage.
