A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, RECOGNIZING JUNE AS
CARIBBEAN AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH IN THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the commemoration of Caribbean American Heritage Month was
adopted by the U.S. House of Representatives in 2005 to recognize the significance of
Caribbean people and their descendants in the history and culture of the United States,
and
WHEREAS, the Resolution passed the Senate in February 2006 and President
George H.W. Bush issued the proclamation in June 2006, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Linda Julien is requesting the City recognize the
month of June as Caribbean American Heritage Month in the City of Miami Gardens, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Linda Julien is encouraging that the residents of Miami
Gardens to celebrate Caribbean culture,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby recognizes June as Caribbean American Heritage Month in the City of Miami
Gardens.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JUNE 9, 2021.
