A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM THE
CARES ACT ACCOUNT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED
SEVEN THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($7,500), FOR
THE GRANT WRITING 101 WORKSHOP PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, grant writing is a daunting, challenging, and costly task, and
WHEREAS, most small businesses and non-profit organizations do not get funded
on their first attempt, and
WHEREAS, while many have compelling stories to tell, they often lack the
manpower, experienced grant writers or designated time to write a grant application, and
WHEREAS, it was found that 70% of grant applicants make the same errors, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Linda Julien is requesting allocation from the cares act
account in an amount not to exceed seven thousand five hundred dollars ($7,500) for a
Grant Writing 101 3-Park Workshop series, and
WHEREAS, this 3-part workshop series serves to prepare, engage and empower
participants for successful grant writing experiences, including Paycheck Protection
Program (PPP) Loan Application, as well as Economic Injury Disaster Loan Application
(EIDL), and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes an allocation of seven thousand five hundred dollars ($7,500) from the
cares act account in order to conduct a Grant Writing 101 3-Part Workshop Series.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON MAY 26, 2021.
