A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING AN
EXPENDITURE IN THE AMOUNT OF SIXTY THREE
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($63,000) TO DESIGN SOUTH
FLORIDA, NUNC PRO TUNC, TO JUNE 19, 2021; PROVIDING
FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on April 14, 2021 the City Council approved Resolution 2021-032-
3587 allocating eighty thousand dollars ($80,000) to cover the costs associated with the
activities and events related to the 1st Annual Juneteenth Celebration, and
WHEREAS, on Saturday, June 19, 2021 the City of Miami Gardens hosted a
Drive-In Juneteenth Park-In & Party event at Calder Casino that included musical
artist, food trucks and vendors to celebrate the day, and
WHEREAS, on June 19, 2021 Design South Florida, provided production service
for this Drive-In Juneteenth Park-In & Party event to include but not limited to staging,
lighting, screens, sound, and instruments, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Wilson is requesting the City Council authorizes the
expenditure of Sixty-Three Thousand Dollars ($63,000) from the funds allocated by
Resolution 2021-032-3587 to Design South Florida, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-752 of the City of Miami Gardens Code of
Ordinances purchases of service over the amount of fifty-thousand dollars ($50,000) shall
be approved by the City Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the expenditure of Sixty-Three Thousand Dollars ($63,000) from the
allocated funds approved by Resolution 2021-032-3587 for the 1st Annual Juneteenth
Celebration.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
