HomeMy WebLinkAbout2021-031-3586_-_Kazah_Temple_Bicycle_Ride_-_Adopted_(1).docxRESOLUTION NO. 2021-031-3586 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM COUNCILMAN ROBERT STEPHENS, III PUBLIC AFFAIRS ACCOUNT IN THE AMOUNT OF FIVE HUNDRED EIGHTY EIGHT DOLLARS ($588.00), TO COVER THE COST FOR OFF DUTY POLICE SERVICES FOR THE KAZAH TEMPLE BICYCLE UNIT TO RAISE AWARENESS FOR YOUTH SAFETY TO BE HELD AT BETTY T. FERGUSON RECREATIONAL COMPLEX, SCHEDULED FOR MAY 16TH, 2021; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Councilman Robert Stephens will cover the cost needed for Off Duty Police services on May 16, 2021 at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Center at 8:00am, and WHEREAS, the event is being held to bring awareness to safety and promote youth development in the Miami Gardens community, and WHEREAS, Kazah Temple #149 was chartered in 1947. For over 70 years, the temple’s members have worked to provide economic relief and charitable service to the citizens of Miami-Dade County. Kazah Temple #149 is currently involved in various causes i.e. NAACP, American Diabetes Association, Food Share, and its own Youth Mentor Program , and WHEREAS, Kazah Temple #149 is requesting law enforcement assistance for navigating through traffic for the duration of their bicycle ride , and WHEREAS, Councilman Stephens is requesting an allocation of five hundred and eighty eight dollars ($588) from the Councilman’s Special Event Account to the cover the cost of Off Duty Police Services provided to Kazah Temple #149 on May 16, 2021, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby support allocation of funds from Councilman Stephens’ Special Event Account for five hundred and eighty eight dollars ($588) for Off Duty Police Services to Kazah Temple #149 on May 16, 2021 .
