A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING A WAIVER OF
RENTAL FEES, AS WELL AS COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH LAW
ENFORCEMENT SUPPORT FOR THE USE OF THE BETTY T.
FERGUSON RECREATIONAL COMPLEX AMPHITHEATER, TO
HOLD A FREE MUSIC IN THE PARK CONCERT ON
SATURDAY, AUGUST 21, 2021; PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Vice Mayor Reggie Leon will be co-sponsoring Vice Chairman Oliver
Gilbert, III’s Music in the Park concert and would like to sponsor the use of the City of
Miami Gardens Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex Amphitheater in support of this
event, and
WHEREAS, Music in the Park is a free, semi annual concert sponsored by Miami‐
Dade County Commissioner Oliver Gilbert III, the Sunshine Jazz Organization, the
Miami‐Dade Cultural Affairs Department, and the City of Miami Gardens, and
WHEREAS, the concert attracts hundreds of residents and guest for a night of
entertainment and music‐related performances, and
WHEREAS, the bonding experience makes police more approachable; an
important factor in improving police-community relations, and
WHEREAS, the next Music in the Park concert is scheduled for Saturday, August
21st from 6:30 pm to 9:00 pm at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex – 3000 NW
199th Street, Miami Gardens, Florida, and
WHEREAS, Vice Mayor Leon is requesting the waiver of rental fees, as well as
costs of Law Enforcement support associated with hosting Music in the Park at Betty T.
Ferguson Recreational Complex on August 21, 2021,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes a rental fee waiver for the use of the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational
Complex Amphitheater to hold a free Music in the Park concert to be held on Saturday,
August 21, 2021.

Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JULY 28, 2021.
