A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF MIAMI GARDENS,
FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER AND CITY
CLERK TO EXECUTE AND ATTEST RESPECTIVELY, THAT
CERTAIN AGREEMENT WITH MIAMI-DADE COUNTY FOR THE
ACCEPTANCE OF THE 2021 STREET TREE MATCHING
GRANT PROGRAM FUNDS IN THE AMOUNT OF EIGHTEEN
THOUSAND AND THIRTEEN DOLLARS ($18,013) IN SUPPORT
OF THE CITY'S "COMMUTE-A-TREE 2 - SCENIC VIEW
PROJECT"; A COPY WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO AS
EXHIBIT A"; PROVIDING THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, in an effort to address the substantial loss of tree canopy, the City of
Miami Gardens has promoted tree plantings throughout the City and worked with the
County on various city tree planting projects and initiatives such as; Million Trees Miami
and NEAT Streets Miami, and
WHEREAS, due to the City of Miami Garden’s expansion of tree canopy efforts,
Miami-Dade County has awarded the City of Miami Gardens a Street Tree Matching
Grant in the amount of eighteen thousand and thirteen dollars ($18,013), and
WHEREAS, pursuant to the terms hereto attached as Exhibit “A,” this is a grant
to match funds for trees and related materials for a total of $36,026 whereby Miami-Dade
County will reimburse the City of Miami Gardens $18,013, and
WHEREAS, it is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager
and City Clerk to execute and attest respectively the Street Tree Matching Grant Program
Tree Planting Agreement in acceptance of the grant award.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the City Manager and City Clerk to execute and attest respectively the
Street Tree Matching Grant Program Tree Planting Agreement.
Section 3: INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY CLERK: The City Clerk is hereby
authorized to obtain two (2) fully executed copies of the subject Agreement with one to
be maintained by the City, and one to be delivered to Miami Dade County.

Section 4: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JULY 28, 2021.
