A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING THREE
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($3,000.00) FROM THE SEAT 6
SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT IN SUPPORT OF THE TEAM
THURSDAYS INITIATIVE BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 9, 2021.
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE;
WHEREAS, participation in a team sport is proven to be instrumental in developing
discipline and teamwork skills, as well as promoting an active lifestyle for many of youth,
and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens is home to four (4) youth football and
cheer/dance programs which operate within the Parks & Recreation Department, and
WHEREAS, the “Team Thursdays Initiative” seeks to encourage local City of
Miami Gardens student-athletes to continue to pursue their recreational aspirations, while
also excelling in the classroom, and
WHEREAS, as reward for their dedication as both students and athletes, each
local youth athletic program will be provided dinner and refreshments following a day of
practice, and
WHEREAS, each individual local football and cheer/dance program will be visited
on an alternating weekly basis beginning September 9, 2021,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the allocation of Three Thousand Dollars ($3,000.00) to support the
Team Thursdays Initiative beginning September 9, 2021.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take place immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 8, 2021.
