A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS TO
COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS, HIGH SCHOOL VARSITY
FOOTBALL PROGRAMS AND CRIME WATCH ORGANIZATION
IN THE CITY; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris is requesting the City Council authorize funds
to be donated to the RJT Foundation, Resource room, Miami Carol City High School
Varsity football program, Miami Norland High School Varsity football program and
Crestview/Rolling Oaks Crime Watch organization in Miami Gardens, and
WHEREAS, RJT Foundation, Incorporated is a 501(c)(3) recognized non-profit
organization reaching out to families who have endured the pain of losing a child as a
result of a violent act of crime, and
WHEREAS, Resource room, Incorporated is a 501(c)(3) recognized non-profit
organization that offers an array of programs for Miami Garden's youth from ages 5 - 18,
offering after school enrichment programming, leadership development, tutoring and
summer internship opportunities, and with over 20 years of service in the City of Miami
Gardens, and over 7,000 youth served during that span of time, this organization
continues thriving to enrich the lives of our Miami Garden's youth, and
WHEREAS, Miami Carol City High School Varsity Football program is one of two
Miami Garden's Public High schools that Mayor Harris is committed to supporting, and
WHEREAS, Miami Norland High School Varsity Football program is one of two
Miami Garden's Public High schools that Mayor Harris is committed to supporting, and
WHEREAS, Crestview/Rolling Oaks Crime watch organization consist of a group
of concerned Miami Garden's residents focused on crime prevention and assisting our
Public safety division in the Crestview/Rolling Oaks community, and
WHEREAS, Mayor Harris is recommending each donation be as follows:
RJT Foundation - $1,000
Resource Room - $1,000
Miami Carol City High School Varsity Football Program - $500
Miami Norland High School Varsity Football Program - $500
Crestview/Rolling Oaks Crime Watch - $1,000
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the donations outlined in this Resolution to those organizations listed
above.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 22, 2021.
