A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM VICE
MAYOR REGGIE LEON’S PUBLIC AFFAIRS ACCOUNT IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS
($2,000.00), TO SUPPORT THE ISSIAH JOHN EDWARDS
LEGACY FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP GALA; PROVIDING
FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on March 18, 2019, the Issiah John Edwards Legacy Foundation Inc.
kicked off its first scholarship gala, and
WHEREAS, due to the outpouring support, the amount of sponsors and funds
raised, the organization began to host the event annually, and
WHEREAS, the organization is looking to raise $12,000 in order to award six
students who reside in the City of Miami Gardens with scholarships, and
WHEREAS, the second annual scholarship gala will take place in April 2022, at
the Miramar Multi-Service Complex, from 6:00pm until 11:30pm, and
WHEREAS, Vice Mayor Leon understands the importance of advocating for
educational success and the health and welfare of all children and families, and
WHEREAS, as a result, he is requesting funding from the Public Affairs Account
in the amount of $2,000.00, to support the Issiah John Edwards Legacy Foundation
Scholarship Gala, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby allocates funds from the Public Affairs Account for Two Thousand Dollars
($2,000.00), to support the Issiah John Edwards Legacy Foundation Scholarship Gala.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 22, 2021.
