A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO NEGOTIATE WITH A CABLE PROVIDER FOR
THE ESTABLISHMENT THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS PUBLIC
ACCESS CHANNEL 77; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, public access programing is community programing on cable TV, and
WHEREAS, establishing a public access channel through a Cable Provider will
provide City of Miami Gardens residents with reliable and convenient access to
broadcasts of City Council meetings and workshops, Community Redevelopment Agency
meetings, and information about city government activities, programs, and services, and
WHEREAS, the establishment of a public access channel will support the City of
Miami Gardens efforts to increase community engagement, allow residents to be aware
and involved in public meetings, provide access to all residents, and assist with
community education, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Linda Julien recommends the City Council directs the
City Manager to negotiate with a cable provider for the establishment the City of Miami
Gardens Public Access Channel 77 and bring back an agreement for the City Council’s
consideration,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the City Manager to negotiate with a cable provider for establishment
of the City of Miami Gardens Public Access Channel 77 and bring back an agreement for
the City Council’s consideration.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 22, 2021.
