A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA ALLOCATING TWO THOUSAND
DOLLARS ($2,000) FROM COUNCILWOMAN KATRINA
WILSON'S SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT TO SUPPORT THE
JUNETEENTH CELEBRATION, NUNC PRO TUNC TO JUNE 19,
2021, PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATION; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on April 14, 2021 the City Council approved Resolution 2021-032-
3587 allocating funds to cover the costs associated with the activities and events related
to the 1st Annual Juneteenth Celebration, and
WHEREAS, on Saturday, June 19, 2021 the City of Miami Gardens hosted a Drive-
In Juneteenth Park-In & Party event at Calder Casino that included live musical artist,
food trucks and vendors to celebrate the day, and
WHEREAS, this event was successful with an attendance of 600 cars and over
2500 people to enjoy Juneteenth, which celebrates the emancipation of Africans who had
been enslaved in the United States, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Katrina Wilson is requesting the City Council authorize
the reallocation of $2,000 from the Seat 4 Public Affairs Special Events account non pro
tunc to June 19, 2021 to cover expenditures associated with the 1st Annual Juneteenth
Celebration, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorize the reallocation of $2,000 from the Seat 4 Public Affairs Special Events
account non pro tunc to June 19, 2021 to cover expenditures associated with the 1st
Annual Juneteenth Celebration.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON SEPTEMBER 22, 2021.
