HomeMy WebLinkAbout2021-128-3683_-_Educational_Initiative_2021_-_Adopted.docxRESOLUTION NO. 2021-128-3683 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM COUNCILWOMAN KATRINA WILSON SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THE SUM OF FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000.00) TO SUPPORT THE RESIDENTIAL AREA 4 EDUCATIONAL INITIATIVES; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, Councilwoman Katrina Wilson is requesting to utilize $5,000.00 from her Special Events Account, and WHEREAS, purchasing constituent materials, supplies, and equipment for the Annual Educational Partnership Initiative, and WHEREAS, according to a survey released by the federal Department of Education, 94% of the public school teachers in the Unite States reported paying for supplies without being reimbursed, and WHEREAS, Councilwoman Katrina Wilson believes putting basic school supplies in the hands of children and their teachers mean empowering students to grow, learn, and continue to strive for a brighter future, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby allocates funds from Councilwoman Wilson’s Special Events Account in the amount of FIVE Thousand Dollars ($5,000.00), for materials, supplies, and equipment for the Annual Educational Partnership Initiative. Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage.
