A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER
TO ALLOCATE AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FIVE
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5,000.00) FROM ACCOUNT NO. 001-
12-01-512-520-00, TO SUPPORT THE MIAMI GARDENS
HIGHER EDUCATION INITIATIVE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens continues to provide programs and
opportunities for residents to develop their skillsets and earning potential; and
WHEREAS, Councilman Stephens understands that importance of advocating for
educational success and encouraging residents in their pursuit of higher education and
obtaining professional skills; and
WHEREAS, as a result, he is requesting funding in the amount of Five Thousand
Dollars ($5,000.00), to support high school graduates who are in need of additional
funding to attend and graduate from an accredited institution of higher learning; and
WHEREAS, the Program will assist five (5) students yearly by providing funding in
the amount of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) each to eligible high school students
who meet the following criteria.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby directs the City Manager’s Office to allocate funding from Account No. 001-12-01-
512-520-00, in the amount of Five Thousand Dollars ($5.000.00), to support The Miami
Gardens Higher Education Initiative Scholarship Program.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take place immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON OCTOBER 27, 2021.
