A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ESTABLISHING AND
ACKNOWLEDGING THURSDAY OF EACH WEEK AS JUICE IT
THURSDAY; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens, based on its demographic makeup,
represents a population that is considered high-risk for adverse health conditions such as
obesity, diabetes, heart disease and cancer; and
WHEREAS, high intake of meat and inorganic products create an increased risk
for these adverse health conditions. Ongoing research also shows that increasing global
production of meat and inorganic products both have consequences for our health,
environment, climate, and individual communities; and
WHEREAS, consuming more raw, organic and plant-based juice products, while
reducing meat consumption, is proven to be a viable, long term solution to these health
conditions, many of which are diet-borne; and
WHEREAS, the establishment of Juice It Thursday will encourage Miami Gardens
residents to explore organic, plant-based juices as alternatives to meat and inorganic
products, in order to reduce health risks and establish healthy consumption habits; and
WHEREAS, in conjunction with Meatless Monday, the Juice It Thursday Campaign
aims to improve the overall health and quality of life of Miami Gardens residents.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby supports the establishment and acknowledgment of Thursday of each week as
Juice It Thursday.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON OCTOBER 27, 2021.
