A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER
TO ORGANIZE QUARTERLY COMMUNITY AWARENESS
WALKS IN SUPPORT OF CAUSES IMPACTING THE MIAMI
GARDENS COMMUNITY; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER
TO TAKE ANY AND ALL STEPS NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT
THE INTENT AND PURPOSE OF THIS RESOLUTION;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, With a population of over 114,000 residents, the City of Miami
Gardens is home to a diverse group of cultures, backgrounds, and ethnicities with varying
needs and priorities; and
WHEREAS, Councilman Stephens recognizes the many needs and priorities that
exist within the community and is requesting that the City Manager’s Office organize
Quarterly Awareness Community Walks to address them; and
WHEREAS, the organization of Quarterly Community Awareness Walks will also
supplement the various fitness initiatives organized by the City of Miami Gardens; and
WHEREAS, regular walking has been proven to have a multitude of positive health
effects; and
WHEREAS, the Quarterly Community Awareness Walks will aim to promote
community health and wellness, while also spreading awareness regarding social topics
and issues impacting residents across the many different cultures and backgrounds
represented within the Miami Gardens community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the City Manager to organize Quarterly Community Awareness Walks
in support of causes impacting the Miami Gardens community.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take place immediately upon
its final passage.
