A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR THE STATE OF
FLORIDA AFRICAN AMERICAN CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL
GRANT, TOWARDS THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE
PERFORMING ARTS CENTER IN THE AMOUNT OF ONE
MILLION DOLLARS ($1,000,000.00); AUTHORIZING A MATCH
OF FUNDS TOTALING TWO HUNDRED AND FIFTY
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($250,000.00); PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, on October 24, 2018, the City Council approved the Sale Agreement
for the 35-Acre City-owned site to BH Miami Gardens Town Center LLC, and
WHEREAS, while the majority of the property will be designed to accommodate a
commercial town center, the site will become home to the City’s Performing Arts Center
(PAC), and
WHEREAS, the proposed construction is in keeping with the City’s desire to create
an Entertainment District along the 27th Avenue Corridor, and
WHEREAS, the African American Cultural and Historical Grant offered through
funding from the Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund (SLFRF) and
managed by a collaboration of the Florida Council on Arts and Culture and the Florida
Historical Commission, and
WHEREAS, the grant provides up to Five Hundred Thousand Dollars
($500,000.00) and an additional Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($500,000.00) with Fifty
Percent (50%) matching funds from other sources, and
WHEREAS, all proposed activity must take place within a 24-month grant period,
and
WHEREAS, it is proposed the match will be met by funding by the Miami Gardens
Community Redevelopment Agency,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.

Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the City Manager to submit an application for The State of Florida
African American Cultural and Historical Grant, towards the construction of The
Performing Arts Center in the amount of One Million Dollars ($1,000,000.00). The City
further authorizes a match of funds totaling Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars
($250,000.00).
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON OCTOBER 27, 2021.
