A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
COUNCILWOMAN LINDA JULIEN'S PUBLIC AFFAIRS
ACCOUNT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED THREE
THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($3,500.00), FOR THE
MIAMI FOUNDATION’S 10TH ANNUAL GIVE MIAMI DAY
TAKING PLACE ON NOVEMBER 18TH, 2021; PROVIDING FOR
THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, since 1967, The Miami Foundation has invested $485 Million into
strengthening the community through partnerships and contributions from more than
1000 fund holders and 35,000 donors, and
WHEREAS, the annual Give Miami Day is hosted as part of an online initiative and
mission to increase local philanthropy and provide community engagement opportunities
for every person in Miami, and
WHEREAS, this year the event will be hosted on Thursday, November 18th, 2021,
and
WHEREAS, Give Miami Day is an annual giving movement uniting nonprofits - big
and small, new and established - to celebrate and increase generosity in Greater Miami
through online giving, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Julien would like to support local nonprofits by
donating an amount not to exceed Three Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($3,500.00)
from her public affairs account for Give Miami Day, and
WHEREAS, this donation will directly go to non-profit organizations such as the
Nyah Project Fellows which has serviced 11 Miami Gardens residents since 2016 and
Miami Gardens based non-profit Eat Will Exchange, Inc. which provides nutrition
education with a focus on culture to improve health status of low-socioeconomic
populations while increasing knowledge, access and affordability of healthy cultural foods,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.

Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby allocates funds from Councilwoman Julien’s Public Affairs Account in the amount
of Three Thousand Five Hundred Dollars ($3,500.00), to support the Give Miami Day.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON OCTOBER 13, 2021.
