A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE USE OF THE
CITY'S NAME AND LOGO FOR THE USE OF RAISING FUNDS
THAT WILL SPECIFICALLY SUPPORT THE CITY’S FOSTER
CARE CHILDREN AND MOST VULNERABLE RESIDENTS,
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris is requesting Council approval for the use of the
City's name and logo for a fundraiser event to specifically support the City’s foster care
children and most vulnerable residents, and
WHEREAS, this event will be promoted as “The Mayor’s Ball”, which will be in
partnership with State Representative Felicia Robinson of District 102, who represents
the northern areas of the City of Miami Gardens, and the Center for Family and Child
Enrichment, Inc., and
WHEREAS, the Center for Family and Child Enrichment, Inc. (“Center”), a private,
nonprofit organization, recognized under 501(c)(3) of the IRS Code, has been meeting
the needs of children and families in Northern Miami-Dade County for more than four
decades, and
WHEREAS, in 2022, for their 45th year of service, the Center would like to host a
major fundraising event to benefit the services they provide to children and families, a
majority of whom reside within the City of Miami Gardens, and
WHEREAS, the operations of the Center is based in the City of Miami Gardens,
the idea to promote the event as the "The Mayor's Ball" seem befitting, as the title Mayor’s
Ball will attach the prestige of the Mayor’s office indicating the Mayor’s support of the
organization and the services that it provides to Miami Gardens and its residents,
moreover, this designation will inspire support for the event from individuals, businesses,
and industries within and outside of the City, and
WHEREAS, this fundraiser event will benefit the City's most vulnerable residents
such as foster children, families at risk of losing children due to abuse and neglect, drugs
and violence, teen pregnancies, truancy and other school problems, and
behavioral/mental health disorders, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.

Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the use of the City's name and logo for the “Mayor’s Ball” fundraising
event to specifically support the City’s foster care children and most vulnerable residents.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON DECEMBER 8, 2021.
