A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, APPROVING THE CITY'S TITLE VI
PLAN FOR 2022 ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT “A”;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO TAKE ALL
NECESSARY STEPS TO IMPLEMENT THE PLAN; PROVIDING
FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING
FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens is a recipient of federal and the half penny
tax funds from the Citizens Independent Transportation Trust (CITT) for transportation
and transit projects throughout the City, and
WHEREAS, the Federal Transportation Administration (FTA) and the CITT
requires that all transit providers that have received or seek to receive financial assistance
from FTA, have their governing body approve the Title VI Plan for its agency by resolution,
and
WHEREAS, Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 prohibits discrimination on the
basis of race, color, and national origin in programs and activities receiving federal
financial assistance and as well as CITT funds, and
WHEREAS, discrimination based on national origin includes among other things
failing to provide meaningful access to individuals who are limited English proficient
(LEP), and
WHEREAS, the City adopted a Title VI Plan in 2009 which has since been updated
every two years, and
WHEREAS, staff seeks to have the Title VI Plan for 2022 for the City, hereto
attached as Exhibit “A”, approved by the City Council,
WHEREAS, staff seeks authorization for the City Manager to take all necessary
steps to implement the plan,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: APPROVAL: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens approves
the Title VI Plan for 2022, attached hereto as Exhibit “A”, and hereby authorizes the City
Manager to take all necessary steps to implement the plan.

Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON FEBRUARY 23, 2022.
