A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, ACCEPTING A THIRTY
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($30,000.00) GRANT AWARD, FROM
THE NATIONAL FITNESS CAMPAIGN (NFC); A COPY OF
WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO TO AS EXHIBIT “A”;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ALLOCATE ONE
HUNDRED AND THIRTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($130,000.00)
WITH THE GRANT, FOR A COMBINED TOTAL OF ONE
HUNDRED AND SIXTY THOUSAND DOLLARS ($160,000.00),
FOR THE COST OF THE OUTDOOR FITNESS COURT AT THE
BETTY T. FERGUSON RECREATION COMPLEX;
AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ANY AND
ALL DOCUMENTS RELATED TO THE ACCEPTANCE OF THIS
AWARD; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens was selected to be awarded a Thirty
Thousand Dollars ($30,000.00) grant for an Outdoor Fitness Court at the Betty T.
Ferguson Recreation Center as part of the National Fitness Campaign, and
WHEREAS, the City is contributing One Hundred and Thirty Thousand Dollars
($130,000.00) toward the overall cost of One Hundred and Sixty Thousand Dollars
($160,000.00), and
WHEREAS, the installation is scheduled for March 2022, at the Betty T Ferguson
Recreational Complex, and
WHEREAS, the Fitness Court will be installed in the Northwest corner of the
property, facing NW 199th Street, and
WHEREAS, the National Fitness Campaign is a social enterprise and consulting
firm that partners with cities, schools, corporations and design firms to fund and build
Outdoor Fitness Courts®, and improve the quality of life in America, and
WHEREAS, the Fitness Court® will bring world class outdoor fitness to Miami
Gardens,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.

Section 2: ACCEPTANCE OF GRANT/AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the
City of Miami Gardens hereby accepts the Thirty Thousand Dollars ($30,000.00) grant
award, from the National Fitness Campaign (NFC), and authorizes the City Manager to
execute any and all documents related to the acceptance of this award.
Section 3: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
authorizes the City Manager to allocate One Hundred and Thirty Thousand Dollars
($130,000.00) with the grant, for a combined total of One Hundred and Sixty Thousand
Dollars ($160,000.00), for the cost of the Outdoor Fitness Court at the Betty T. Ferguson
recreation complex.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JANUARY 26, 2022.
