PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, The cost of a college education has increasingly become more expensive over the years. Associated cost like food, housing and learning material for courses only add on to the financial burdens that are attached to earning a four-year degree, and WHEREAS, Florida Memorial University (FMU), a private, coeducational, historically Black University is located in the City of Miami Gardens, and WHEREAS, FMU Student Emergency Fund was established to provide assistance for Florida Memorial University Students who are experiencing hardship as a result of COVID-19, and WHEREAS, Councilwoman Linda Julien is requesting funding from the Seat 5 Public Affairs Special Events Account in the amount of Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250.00) to support the Florida Memorial University Student Emergency Fund, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby authorizes the allocation of Two Hundred Fifty Dollars ($250.00) from the Seat 5 Public Affairs Special Events Account in support of the Florida Memorial University Student Emergency Fund. Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon its final passage. PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON APRIL 13, 2022.
