A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE USE OF
CAROL CITY PARK, SHOWMOBILE, AND STAFFING IN
PARTNERSHIP WITH THE THOMAS5 FOUNDATION, INC. 9TH
ANNUAL EASTER DAY EGGSTRAVAGANZ TAKING PLACE ON
APRIL 17, 2022; AUTHORIZING AN IN-KIND SUPPORT FOR
THE EVENT IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED SIX
THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED AND TWENTY NINE DOLLARS
($6,629.00) FROM THE GENERAL FUNDS ACCOUNTS FOR
THE PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT, POLICE
DEPARTMENT, AND PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, non-profit organizations are essential to providing Miami Gardens
residents with valuable information, resources, and services, and
WHEREAS, the Thomas5 (T5) Foundation is a South Florida non-profit charitable
organization that leads by action, and
WHEREAS, founded by Mrs. Shannon Thomas, the cause of the foundation is to
assist and provide programming that supports men, women, caregivers, and their children
that will aid in preventing or transitioning from homelessness, and
WHEREAS, over the past five years, the T5 Foundation has been able to donate
food, clothing, and other necessities, and
WHEREAS, the T5 Foundation’s 9th Annual Easter Day Eggstravaganza’s goal is
to boost community morale, family bonding, and to assist with rebuilding community trust
between the citizens and lawmakers, and
WHEREAS, Over the years, their events have reached over 10,000 people
including men, women, children of all ages, elected officials, and sponsors, and
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens will partner with the Thomas5 Foundation
to present the 9th Annual Easter Day Eggstravaganza that will take place on April 17,
2022 from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm at Miami Carol City Park, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Robert Stephens is requesting that the City waives the
fees and costs associated with utilizing Miami Carol City Park, showmobile, police
services, and staffing for the purpose of co-hosing the Thomas5 Foundation’s 9th Annual
Easter Day Eggstravaganza, and

WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens will provide in-kind resources, security,
staffing, and/or facilities for the Thomas5 Foundation’s 9th Annual Easter Day
Eggstravaganza, and
WHEREAS, the City’s in-kind support is estimated at six thousand six hundred
twenty nine dollars ($6,629.00) for the Thomas5 Foundation’s 9th Annual Easter Day
Eggstravaganza taking place on April 17, 2022,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the use of Miami Carol City Park, Showmobile, and in-kind support for
the event in the amount of six thousand six hundred twenty nine dollars from the General
Fund Accounts for the Parks and Recreation Department, Public Works Department, and
Police Department.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON APRIL 13, 2022.
