A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA ALLOCATING A TOTAL OF FIVE
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($5000.00) FROM MAYOR RODNEY
HARRIS' PUBLIC AFFAIRS SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT AND
SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT FUND TO COVER ADDITIONAL
COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE ARBOR DAY SENIOR'S
HOME BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT FOR MIAMI GARDENS
RESIDENTS;PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE
WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris is requesting the allocation of a total of five
thousand dollars ($5000.00) from both his Public Affairs Special Events account and his
Special Events account to support the Arbor Day Senior's Home Beautification Project for
Miami Gardens residents, as five seniors who reside in the City of Miami Gardens will
receive much needed weatherization and landscaping upgrades, and
WHEREAS, this collective grassroots initiative is inclusive of various organizations
such as Miami Gardens Neighborhood Watch, Miami Gardens Job Corp, Community
Alliance Network, the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau and Florida
Memorial University, and
WHEREAS, there were some additional expenses associated with three of the five
homes that will be upgraded, and the additional labor, supplies and equipment needed
are, additional pallets of sod and dirt, sprinkler system pump and piping, replacement
labor cost, 50% of cost to re-drill two (2) wells at one thousand ($1000) each, cost of
material associated with re-drilling wells, and
WHEREAS, the additional funding needed for this initiative is to be paid from both
the Mayor’s Public Affairs Special Events account line item and his Special Events
account line item,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby approve the allocation of a total of five thousand dollars ($5000.00) from both the
Mayor’s Public Affairs Special Events account line item in the amount of four thousand
dollars ($4,000) and his Special Events account line item in the amount of one thousand
dollars ($1,000) to cover costs associated with Arbor Day Senior’s Home Beautification
project.

Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON MAY 11, 2022.
