A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS, FLORIDA RECOGNIZING THE MONTH OF JUNE
AS NATIONAL CARIBBEAN-AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH IN
THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS; PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City of Miami Gardens has a large number of Caribbean-
American residents that are making great contributions to not only the City of Miami
Gardens, but South Florida and the world, and
WHEREAS, in 2006 President George W. Bush declared the month of June as
National Caribbean- American Heritage Month, and
WHEREAS, the month is an opportunity to celebrate the heritage, history, and
cultural diversity and is further a time to explore the traditions Caribbean-Americans
carry with them, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Shannan Ighodaro is recommending the City of
Miami Gardens recognize the month of June as National Caribbean-American Heritage
Month, and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby recognizes the month of June as National Caribbean-American Heritage Month
in the City of Miami Gardens.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JUNE 8, 2022.
