A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING TRAVEL
EXPENSES FOR THE MIAMI-DADE TRANSPORTATION
PLANNING ORGANIZATION’S (TPO) SMART PROGRAM PEER
EXCHANGE & EVALUATION OF EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES
FOR COUNCILWOMAN LINDA JULIEN, ON BEHALF OF
MAYOR RODNEY HARRIS; PROVIDING FOR INSTRUCTIONS
TO THE CITY MANAGER; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris is requesting the City pay the travel expenses
for Councilwoman Linda Julien to attend the Transportation Planning Organization’s
(TPO) SMART Program Peer Exchange & Evaluation of Emerging Technologies in
Boston and the European Union from July 8-15, 2022, on his behalf, as a representative
from the City of Miami Gardens, and
WHEREAS, the transportation peer exchange will include Board Member forum
participation (Councilwoman Julien will be serving in this capacity) on emerging
technologies, as well as meetings with officials to review and evaluate projects consistent
with TPO Governing Board directives for the evaluation of bus transit tunnels and urban
air mobility, and
WHEREAS, the estimated travel expenses for this event includes lodging,
transportation, and food per diem for an estimated total of Eight Thousand Two Hundred
and Sixty-Four Dollars ($8,264.00) which is expected to be reimbursed back to the City
from the TPO, and
WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris recommends the City Council fund the travel
expense in the estimated amount of Eight Thousand Two Hundred and Sixty-Four Dollars
($8,264.00) for the Miami-Dade Transportation Planning Organization’s (TPO) SMART
Program Peer Exchange & Evaluation of Emerging Technologies for Councilwoman
Linda Julien, on behalf of Mayor Rodney Harris,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes travel expenses for the Miami-Dade Transportation Planning
Organization’s (TPO) SMART Program Peer Exchange & Evaluation of Emerging
Technologies for Councilwoman Linda Julien, on behalf of Mayor Rodney Harris.

Section 3: INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY MANAGER: The City Council hereby
instructs the City Manager to pay the estimated travel expenses as outlined herein and
to seek reimbursement from the Miami-Dade Transportation Planning Organzation
SMART Program Peer Exchange & Evaluation of Emerging Technologies.
Section 4: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JUNE 22, 2022.
