A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS,FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
COUNCILWOMAN LINDA JULIEN'S PUBLIC AFFAIRS
ACCOUNT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDRED
AND LINES;PRIDETO DOLLARS FIFTTY ($250.00)
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Julien,in an effort to ensure equality for all
marginalized communities, would like to donate funds to Pride Lines, and
WHEREAS, Pridelines is a grassroots 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, founded
by gay and bisexual youth for LGBTQ youth and their allies in the wake of Anita Bryant’s
“Save Our Children” campaign, and
WHEREAS, organizations like Pride Lines provide a platform of equality for
LGBTQ+ persons in Miami-Dade County with the dedicated and specialized work that
Pride Lines provides, LGBTQ+ community members have been able to thrive and achieve
goals on par with non-LGBTQ+ persons, and
WHEREAS, this marginalized community has been subjected to acts of violence,
discrimination and aggression, and
WHEREAS, it is Councilwoman Julien’s intention to support organizations that are
on the frontlines of fighting against inequalities for all marginalized persons, especially
those that identify as members of the LGBTQ+ community, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Julien is requesting an allocation of two hundred and
fifty dollars ($250.00) from the Seat 5’s Public Affairs account to Pride Lines,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorize the allocation of funds from Councilwoman Julien’s Public Affairs
Account in the amount of two hundred and fifty dollars ($250.00) to Pride Lines.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
