A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, RECOGNIZING ASHLEY ADIRIKA
FOR HER EXTRODINARY ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT IN
BEING ACCEPTED INTO ALL EIGHT IVY LEAGUE COLLEGES;
PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;
PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Ashley Adirika, a Miami Gardens resident, has been accepted into
each of the eight Ivy League colleges: Brown, Columbia, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard,
Penn, Princeton and Yale. She was also accepted to Stanford, Vanderbilt, and Emory,
and
WHEREAS, Adirika, 17, has been a resident during her most pivotal years where
She attended Carol City Middle School and recently graduated from Miami Beach Senior
High School, and
WHEREAS, She was a member of her school’s debate team and served as a
student Cambridge,in Harvard attendtocouncilhas andpresident decided
Massachusetts, and
WHEREAS, Adrika, whose parents are from Nigeria, will join the debate team at
Harvard and is considering law school after she finishes her undergraduate degree, and
WHEREAS, As a high school student, she founded Our Story Our Worth, an
organization that provides mentorship, confidence-building and sisterhood to girls and
young women of color in Miami,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: RECOGNITION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby
recognizes Ashley Adrika for her exceptional academic achievement.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JUNE 22, 2022.
