A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS,FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
EVENTSSPECIALJULIEN'SLINDA COUNCILWOMAN
ACCOUNT IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWO THOUSAND
FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($2,500.00) FOR THE 2ND ANNUAL
OFF TO COLLEGE GIVEAWAY; PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Julien, in an effort to facilitate a successful event
would like to allocate two thousand five hundred dollars to her 2nd Annual Off to College
Giveaway, and
WHEREAS, this event is intended to assist young scholars in Miami Gardens that
are venturing off to colleges and universities throughout the state of Florida and abroad,
and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Julien recognizes the challenges that may come with
purchasing essential items like laptops, microwaves and refrigerators that are all
important to ensure success, especially as a freshman, and
WHEREAS, in an effort to assist Miami Gardens’ students that are leaving for
college, the 2nd Annual Off to College Giveaway will impact an estimated 90 incoming
freshmen students, and
WHEREAS, Councilwoman Julien is requesting an allocation of two thousand five
hundred dollars ($2,500.00) from Seat 5 Special Events Account to partially fund the 2nd
Annual Off to College Giveaway,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorize the allocation of funds from Councilwoman Julien’s Special Events
Account in the amount of two thousand five hundred dollars ($2,500.00) to the 2nd Annual
Off to College Giveaway.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
