A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS,FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
COUNCILMAN STEPHENS’ PUBLIC AFFAIRS ACCOUNT IN AN
AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE THOUSAND TWO HUNDRED
DOLLARS ($1,200) IN SUPPORT OF FATHER’S M.I.A. “DADDY/
DAUGHTER” GALA; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Father’s M.I.A. is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to
become the bridge that will facilitate the reconciliation between the Fathers, Children, and
Families, and
WHEREAS, their core values are to help, provide support and facilitate change
that will foster an appreciation for the importance of fatherhood by providing instruction
that sheds light on gifts embedded in children brought by the guidance and direction of
their father, and
WHEREAS, the foundation’s goals are to give fathers and their children a fighting
chance, and opportunities that positively change their lives, their thinking, their values,
their understanding through this foundation, and
WHEREAS, to help resolve some of the issues, their organization has team up
with local city officials who have volunteered their time in participating at their annual “As
We Honor Her - Daddy/Daughter” Gala event that brings awareness and assistance to
over 20 girls each year who are fatherless, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Robert Stephens, III is requesting funding from the Public
Affairs account in the amount of $1,200 to support the FATHER’S M.I.A. “DADDY/
DAUGHTER” GALA,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the allocation of One Thousand Two Hundred Dollars ($1,200.00) to
the FATHER’S M.I.A. “DADDY/ DAUGHTER” GALA from the Seat 6 Public Affairs
account.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
