A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS,FLORIDA, ALLOCATING FUNDS FROM
COUNCILMAN STEPHENS’ SPECIAL EVENTS ACCOUNT IN
AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE THOUSAND DOLLARS
($1,000) IN SUPPORT OF THE “LOADS OF HOPE LAUNDRY
INITIAITIVE”; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, when Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005, Tide created a laundromat on
wheels to restore comfort for those affected by natural disasters and other times of crisis,
and
WHEREAS, Tide Loads of Hope has provided 68,000 loads of clean laundry since
2005 to those affected by natural disasters, including tornadoes and flooding in the
Midwest, hurricanes in Florida and wildfires in California, and
WHEREAS, Mt. Pisgah SDA Church is a Bible-focused, family-friendly church
located right here in Miami Gardens that is made up of a diverse population that serves
the community, and
WHEREAS, Mt. Pisgah SDA Church and Councilman Robert Stephens, III believe
that providing communities with the ability do laundry during a hard time, is a crucial step
in restoring routines and helping families get back on their feet, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Stephens is requesting the allocation of One Thousand
Dollars ($1,000.00) to the “LOADS OF HOPE LAUNDRY INITIATIVE” from the Seat 6
Special Events account.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the allocation of One Thousand Dollars ($1,000.00) from the Seat 6
Special Events Account to support the “LOADS OF HOPE LAUNDRY INITIATIVE”.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JULY 13, 2022.
