A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, WAIVING RENTAL FEES AND
SERVICE CHARGES FOR THE USE OF THE SENIOR FAMILY
CENTER AND PAYING ASSOCIATED STAFFING COSTS IN
SUPPORT OF GENERATIONAL CURE’S 6TH ANNUAL BLACK
&WHITE GALA; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, Generational Cure is a non-profit organization dedicated to the
educational, athletic and socio-economic enrichment of at-risk youth in Miami Gardens
and the surrounding communities, that provides a holistic approach to mentoring that
include individual, group and family sessions, and
WHEREAS, their mentoring sessions build their mentees self-esteem, which will
inspire them to become better for themselves and for society while cultivating their
imaginations to think outside of common athletic and stereotypical ideas that have been
forced upon them by society and their environment, and
WHEREAS, Generational Cure is presenting their 6th Annual Black & White Gala,
in partnership with City of Miami Gardens Councilman Robert Stephens, III, and the Miami
Dolphins’ Football Unites to highlight and honor the extraordinary accomplishments of the
youth in their mentoring program, and
WHEREAS, The Black & White Gala honors students for Excellence in Academic
Achievement, Excellence in Overall Improvement and Excellence in Community Service
along with academic scholarships while recognizing adults who give back to the
community through service, philanthropy and mentorship and
WHEREAS, Councilman Robert Stephens, III is requesting the waiving of costs for
the utilization of the Senior Family Center and and payment of staffing costs to support
GENERATIONAL CURE’S 6TH ANNUAL BLACK & WHITE GALA,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the waiving of costs for the utilization of the Senior Family Center and
Staff services in accordance with the attached Agenda Cover Memorandum, to support
GENERATIONAL CURE’S 6TH ANNUAL BLACK & WHITE GALA.

Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.

GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JULY 13, 2022.
