HomeMy WebLinkAbout2022-093-3804_-_(Federal)_Law_Enforcement_Trust_Fund_Expenditure_-_Mobile_Command_Vehicle_-_Adopted_RESOLUTION NO. 2022-093-3804 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS,FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING THE EXCEED TO NOT ONEAN IN EXPENDITURE AMOUNT HUNDRED AND SIXTY-TWO THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED AND THIRTY FROM ($162,137.00) THESEVEN DOLLARS (FEDERAL) LAW ENFORCEMENT TRUST FUND (“LETF”) TO PURCHASE A NEW MOBILE COMMAND VEHICLE (MCV) PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 2-845, of the City’s Code of Ordinance, and the Untied States Civil and Forfeiture Code, the City is authorized to expend funds from the Federal Justice Law Enforcement Trust Fund (“LETF”) for law enforcement equipment, and WHEREAS, the Miami Gardens Police Department is requesting to expend the funding from its Federal LETF account, to purchase a new 2023 Freightliner M2 Chassis, 32-Ft Mobile Command Vehicle (MCV), and WHEREAS, the City purchased an MCV in 2009 that is reaching the end of life. An MCV is a critical element utilized by the Police Department during various incidents and events including, natural and human-caused critical incidents, training, preplanned and spontaneous law enforcement details, and public engagements, and WHEREAS, an MCV allows for enhanced communication capabilities during an incident. It allows dispatch personnel to be in an enclosed area near an incident to pass information from officers on the scene to supervisors, share with other agencies involved in the incident, as well as communicate with the public, and the media, and WHEREAS, the Federal LETF funds will be allocated for the purchase of the Mobile Command Vehicle at a cost of Seven Hundred Thousand, Eight Hundred and Seventy dollars ($714,874.00), NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby authorizes the expenditure in an amount not to exceed One Hundred and Sixty- Two Thousand One Hundred and Thirty Seven Dollars ($162,137.00) from the Federal Law Enforcement Trust Fund account to purchase a new MCV.
