A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS,FLORIDA, APPROVING THE 2022-2025
LOCAL HOUSING ASSISTANCE PLAN (LHAP), A COPY OF
WHICH IS ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT “A”; AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO SUBMIT THE LHAP TO THE FLORIDA
HOUSING FINANCE CORPORATION; PROVIDING FOR THE
ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS;PROVIDING FOR AN
EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, upon the City of Miami Gardens (City) becoming a US Housing and
Urban Development (HUD) entitlement community in 2007, the City became eligible to
receive funding from the Florida Housing Finance Corporation in the form of State
Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) Program funds, and
WHEREAS, LHAP governs the use of these State funds through various initiatives
targeted at generating and preserving affordable housing and adoption of a Local Housing
Assistance Plan (LHAP) is a requirement for receiving SHIP funding, and
WHEREAS, currently, the plan covers a three-year period, from 2019 to 2022, and
was adopted by the City Council on June 12, 2019, via Resolution No. 2019-138-3267,
and
WHEREAS, once funds are received they will be allocated appropriately as per the
SHIP program budget for each fiscal year, and
WHEREAS, City Staff recommends the City Council approve the proposed 2022-
2025 Local Housing Assistance Plan (LHAP) and authorize the City Manager to submit
the LHAP to the Florida Housing Finance Corporation,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby approves the proposed 2022 - 2025 Local Housing Assistance Plan (LHAP), a
copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit “A”. Further, the City Council of the City of
Miami Gardens hereby authorizes the City Manager to submit the LHAP to the Florida
Housing Finance Corporation.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
