A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA, AUTHORIZING USE OF BETTY T.
FERGUSON RECREATIONAL GYMNASIUM AND PAYING
ASSOCIATED STAFFING COSTS FROM COUNCILMAN
ROBERT STEPHENS SEAT 6 PUBLIC AFFAIRS ACCOUNT IN
AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED TWO HUNDERED SIXTY-FOUR
DOLLARS COUNCILMAN OF ($264.00)IN SUPPORT
STEPHENS AND REWIND HOOPS MIA’S 2-DAY BASKETBALL
TOURNAMENT; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF
REPRESENTATIONS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS, Rewind HOOPS Miami is a local organization that has created a
basketball tournament where participants and attendees have a nostalgic basketball
experience, and
WHEREAS, Rewind HOOPS MIA’s Basketball Tournament aims to renew old
rivalries and create new ones with their 2-day, 5-on-5 basketball tournament, and
WHEREAS, they believe this tournament is a great opportunity to provide a
reunion-like atmosphere while providing an opportunity for competition and community
spirit, and
WHEREAS, the goal of this tournament is to give players a chance to be a part of
the community, participate in a social event and play some basketball, and
WHEREAS, Councilman Robert Stephens, III is requesting the waiving of costs for
the utilization of the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Gymnasium and paying associated
staffing costs from the Seat 6 Public Affairs Accounts in an amount not to exceed two
hundred sixty-four dollars ($264) for day 2 of Councilman Stephens and Rewind MIA’s
Basketball Tournament,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas
paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby
made a specific part of this Resolution.
Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens
hereby authorizes the waiving of rental fees and service charges for the use of the Betty
T. Ferguson Recreational Gymnasium and paying associated staffing costs from the Seat
6 Public Affairs account in an amount not to exceed two hundred sixty-four dollars ($264)

for day 2 of Councilman Stephens and Rewind Hoops MIA’s 2-Day Basketball
Tournament.
Section 3: EFFECTIVE DATE: This Resolution shall take effect immediately upon
its final passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI
GARDENS AT ITS REGULAR MEETING HELD ON JULY 27, 2022.
