HomeMy WebLinkAbout2022-111-3822_-_The_Children_s_Trust_Family_Expo_2022_-_Adopted_-_PdfRESOLUTION NO. 2022-111-3822 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA WAIVING AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED SIX THOUSAND THREE HUNDRED AND TWENTY- THREE DOLLARS AND SEVENTY-SEVEN CENTS ($6,323.77) FOR THE USE OF THE BETTY T. FERGUSON RECREATIONAL COMPLEX AND LAW ENFORCEMENT ASSISTANCE, NUNC PRO TUNC, ON AUGUST 6, 2022 FOR THE CHILDREN’S TRUST FAMILY EXPO 2022; PROVIDING FOR INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CITY CLERK; PROVIDING FOR THE ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS; PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Children's Trust hosted their Family Expo at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex on Saturday, August 6, 2022, from 10am - 3pm, and WHEREAS, Mayor Rodney Harris believes this was an important event for the Miami Gardens community, as most of our youth (K-12) were going to be returning back to school for the 2022 - 2023 school year at the time, and WHEREAS, the Family Expo provided families the opportunity to connect with the Children's Trust’s extensive provider network, as well as other community agencies and organizations that serve them, and WHEREAS, parents were able to take advantage of the plethora of resources that were available at the Family Expo, learning about after-school and enrichment programs, nutrition education, injury prevention, programs for children with special needs, pre-K registration information, and KidCare outreach, and WHEREAS, moreover, the Family Expo featured exhibits that highlighted arts, sports, STEM, health, and wellness, among many others which benefitted the community, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF MIAMI GARDENS, FLORIDA AS FOLLOWS: Section 1: ADOPTION OF REPRESENTATIONS: The foregoing Whereas paragraphs are hereby ratified and confirmed as being true, and the same are hereby made a specific part of this Resolution. Section 2: AUTHORIZATION: The City Council of the City of Miami Gardens hereby authorize in-kind support nunc pro tunc for the use of the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex in the amount of three thousand five hundred and fifty-one dollars ($3,551.00) and law enforcement assistance in the amount of one thousand nine hundred and seventy-nine dollars and seventy-nine cents ($2,772.77) from the General Funds of the Police and Parks & Recreation Department respectively for the Children’s Trust Family Expo 2022 held on August 6, 2022.
